Kala Art Institute is a renowned art studio, school, and gallery that hosts visiting and resident artists from around the world. As Digital Studio Manager, I oversaw the complete digital workflow infrastructure, managed professional-grade equipment including large-format printers and drum scanners, and provided technical education to artists working across print, video, and digital media disciplines.
Supporting artists through every stage of digital creation — from concept to final exhibition.
Professional giclée and fine art printing workflows using Epson and Canon professional systems.
Complete video workflows from capture through post-production and final export.
High-resolution drum scanning and digital archiving of artwork and source materials.
Technical design and implementation of digital components for gallery installations and shows.
Managing a world-class digital art facility required expertise across multiple domains simultaneously:
Epson and Canon professional giclée systems — calibration, maintenance, and production workflows
High-resolution archival scanning systems for fine art reproduction
Medium and large format digital systems for documentation and production
Apple systems optimized for Creative Suite, color management, and rendering
Color-calibrated monitors and projection systems for accurate proofing
High-speed data transfer, backup systems, and studio-wide connectivity
Instructed visiting and resident artists on optimum workflows from capture to export, covering Adobe Print and Video applications from beginner to advanced levels.
Created and installed digital components for gallery exhibitions including video installations, projection systems, and interactive digital art pieces.
Maintained complex professional equipment including large-format printers, drum scanners, and high-end cameras, ensuring optimal performance and longevity.
Handled all organizational IT needs, equipment procurement, employee onboarding, and database management and recovery for the entire institute.
Artistic Legacy: During my tenure at Kala Art Institute, I helped establish digital workflows and technical standards that enabled countless artists to push the boundaries of digital and mixed media art. The experience provided deep expertise in creative technology that continues to inform my work with design studios and creative professionals today.
